The Origami Holiday Tree<\/b> is an annual event produced by OrigamiUSA<\/b> at the American Museum of Natural History<\/b>. Each year, OrigamiUSA<\/b> and a team of volunteers designs and produces a stunning tree in the main hall of the Museum, decorated with hundreds of origami figures folded and sent in by members and origami aficionados from around the world. Origami<\/b> comes from oru meaning “folding”, and kami meaning “paper” and is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. This gorgeous spectacle has been an institute in New York City for many years, and is a linchpin of the relationship between OrigamiUSA and the Museum of Natural History<\/b>. This year, the tree is decorated with the theme of Fantastic Creatures: Mythic and Real and covered various exotic origami creatures from dragons and mermaids to narwhals and peacocks.
