\ntalents to New York on Tuesday, Jan. 23, staging a runway show which kicked off a week of retail displays and sales at select stores throughout
\nManhattan.The goal of bringing the designers to New York, said Japan Fashion Week
\nboard member Masahiko Miyake, was to create recognition and awareness
\nfor these brands little known outside of Japan, as well as to promote
\nJapan Fashion Week, which starts on March 23. The designers were chosen
\nfor their \u201csense of character and originality,\u201d said Miyake.
\nThe event helped establish a stronger bond between fashion in New York
