According to several reports, Senegalese singer Akon<\/strong> will be working with Slumdog Millionaire<\/strong> composer and fellow musician A.R. Rahman<\/strong> on an upcoming album entitled Freedom is Beautiful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

News of the collaboration comes shortly after Rahman<\/strong> won an Academy Award for both Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song at the 2009 Oscars for his work on the Slumdog Millionaire score.<\/p>\n

The album is said to be a mixture of Hip Hop and bhangra<\/strong>, a form of music from the Punjab region of India.<\/p>\n

Since the release of his single \u201cMr. Lonely\u201d Akon<\/strong> has gradually risen to fame in India.<\/p>\n

Freedom Is Beautiful<\/strong> will also feature appearances by artists such as Colby O’Donis and friend of Akon, Kardinal Offishall.<\/p>\n

"AR Rahman is Akon’s friend. And the two wanted to do some work together,\u201d Kardinal Offishall explained to India\u2019s Daily News & Analysis. \u201cI was introduced to him during the shoot for Akon’s video. Everyone knows Rahman. I have heard his music."<\/p>\n

Recently, Rahman appeared briefly in the music video for Akon\u2019s \u201cBeautiful\u201d, a song from his album entitled Freedom. The video for \u201cBeautiful\u201d premiered last month on Yahoo! Music.<\/p>\n

Released in 2008, Freedom is Akon\u2019s<\/strong> third studio album. Freedom went on to sell a little over 100,000 copies in its first week and reached the number seven spot on the Billboard 200 chart. <\/p>\n

There is still no word yet on when Akon and Rahman<\/strong> will begin working on Freedom Is Beautiful<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
