Japanese, South Korean and U.S. missile-destroying ships<\/strong> set sail to monitor North Korea’s imminent rocket launch, as Pyongyang stoked tensions on Monday by detaining a South Korean worker for allegedly denouncing the North’s political system.<\/p>\n

A U.S. military spokesman said the USS McCain has left the South Korean port of Busan and the USS Chafee is set to depart later on today.<\/p>\n

South Korean news reports cited unnamed officials as saying the U.S. ships will monitor North Korea’s rocket launch that could happen as soon as Saturday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

North Korea has declared its intention to send a communications satellite into orbit sometime between April 4-8, stoking concern among neighboring countries that the launch is a cover for a test of its advanced missile technology.<\/p>\n

A commercial satellite imagery taken by DigitalGlobe shows what appears to be a three-stage vehicle on a launch pad in eastern North Korea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

North Korea has threatened to quit international talks on its nuclear disarmament if punished with sanctions. The communist regime’s main newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reiterated that warning Sunday, saying the talks will "completely collapse" if taken to the Security Council.<\/p>\n
