{"id":4132,"date":"2009-05-17T01:05:11","date_gmt":"2009-05-17T01:05:11","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-05-18T05:05:19","modified_gmt":"2009-05-18T05:05:19","slug":"Red-Cliff-to-be-released-in-the-United-States","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=4132","title":{"rendered":"Red Cliff to be released in the United States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Red Cliff<\/b> is director <b>John Woo\u2019s<\/b> latest film, a sweeping epic about the historic Battle of <b>Red Cliffs<\/b> that stars <b>Tony Leung<\/b>, an actor considered to be Hong Kong\u2019s equivalent to Robert De Niro (well, when he was in his prime). It is a film that has been released in lots of markets already over the past ten months or so, with Part I first released in Mainland China last July, and Part II in January this year.<\/p>\n<p>Other places that it has reached are Japan, Singapore and South Korea, with the only non-Asian locations being France (released in March this year).<\/p>\n<p>Red Cliff 2 will The US distribution rights were acquired by <b>Magnet Releasing (the genre label of Magnolia Pictures)<\/b> at this year\u2019s <b>Cannes Film Festival<\/b>, and <b>Red Cliff<\/b> is planned for release sometime this fall. No official release date has been set, but it is planned to be combined into one two-and-a-half hour movie (instead of two separate parts, as most of the rest of the world got), with plans for an eventual video-on-demand and DVD release.<\/p>\n<p>The first of this two-part epic motion, \u201cRed Cliff\u201d adapted from China\u2019s novel \u201cRomance of the Three Kingdoms\u201d written by Guanzhong Luo (1330-1400) is the most expensive film ever made in Asia.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"450\" height=\"388\"><param name=\"movie\"
