{"id":4212,"date":"2009-06-02T03:06:09","date_gmt":"2009-06-02T03:06:09","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-06-02T04:06:34","modified_gmt":"2009-06-02T04:06:34","slug":"Slumdog-stock-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=4212","title":{"rendered":"Slumdog stock fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Looks like financial execs are trying to cash in on the Slumdog, Indian craze!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Helios Capital Management Pte<\/strong>, the hedge-fund manager once backed by Tudor Investment Corp., plans to <strong>start a \u201cSlumdog Millionaire\u201d fund<\/strong> that will buy underperforming shares of Indian companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe want to find slumdogs from the Indian equity markets who have the potential of becoming millionaires,\u201d<\/strong> Samir Arora, founder of Singapore-based Helios Capital, said in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>The firm plans to raise about <strong>$50 million by the end of July<\/strong> for its long-only <strong>Helios<\/strong> <strong>India Jai Ho Fund<\/strong>, Arora said. \u201cJai Ho,\u201d which means \u201cvictory\u201d in Hindi, is the Oscar- winning theme song from \u201cSlumdog Millionaire,\u201d a feel-good tale of a Mumbai orphan\u2019s escape from poverty that scooped eight Academy Awards, including best picture, this year in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Can we get a piece of that?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601080&amp;sid=aALOYwFBBFqU&amp;refer=asia\" target=\"_blank\">www.bloomberg.com<\/a><\/em><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like financial execs are trying to cash in on the Slumdog, Indian craze!
