{"id":4574,"date":"2009-08-17T01:08:34","date_gmt":"2009-08-17T01:08:34","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-08-17T02:08:53","modified_gmt":"2009-08-17T02:08:53","slug":"Hard-times-at-Asian-American-Journalist-Association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=4574","title":{"rendered":"Hard times at Asian American Journalist Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of <strong>Asian American Journalists <\/strong>gathered in <strong>Boston <\/strong>last week for the <strong>Asian American Journalist Association Conference.<\/strong> Like other businesses, the <strong>AAJA <\/strong>is also struggling with funding, membership and staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AAJA<\/strong> will likely end the year with a deficit of more than $100,000, Heckman said. Funding for some programs already has been cut. Further cuts may be on the way, and some members are talking of fundamental changes to AAJA programming.<\/p>\n<p>The hardest-hit program so far has been the student news project.
