{"id":4644,"date":"2009-09-03T00:09:30","date_gmt":"2009-09-03T00:09:30","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-09-03T00:09:36","modified_gmt":"2009-09-03T00:09:36","slug":"Chinese-Foreign-Ministry-denies-Euna-and-Laura-s-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=4644","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Foreign Ministry denies Euna and Laura&#8217;s claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<strong>China <\/strong>denied on Thursday claims by two U.S. journalists, jailed by North Korea for illegal entry into the reclusive state, that they were seized on Chinese territory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee <\/strong>told The Los Angeles Times that they strayed into North Korean territory in March when visiting a frozen river that marked the border with China.<\/p>\n<p>They said they rushed back to the Chinese side but North Korean guards chased them and dragged them into North Korea.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;According to the understanding of the relevant departments, they did not find the situation as you described it,&quot; Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told reporters in response to a question about the two U.S. journalists&#8217; claim.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were released in early August when former U.S. President Bill Clinton travelled to Pyongyang, where he met leader Kim Jong-il and secured their freedom.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Don&#8217;t know who to believe.
