The article essentially points out the danger insurers now face as their investment portfolios take hits from subprime-related securities or bonds that are, today, deemed worthless. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeannuityrates.com\">Annuities<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would be bad enough, but insurance companies involved in selling variable annuities will be held accountable for the promises made of providing consumers with a lifetime of income, regardless of the real, separate account values.
