{"id":5205,"date":"2010-01-09T03:01:56","date_gmt":"2010-01-09T03:01:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-01-09T17:01:14","modified_gmt":"2010-01-09T17:01:14","slug":"-Indigo--New-works-by-Shelly-Jyoti-and-Laura-Kina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=5205","title":{"rendered":"Indigo &#8211; New works by Shelly Jyoti and Laura Kina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Indigo &#8211; New works by Shelly Jyoti and Laura Kina<br \/>\nmakes a final stop in Mumbai India this next week.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Employing fair trade embroidery artisans from women\u2019s collectives in India and executing their works in indigo blue, Indian artist Shelly Jyoti and US artist Laura Kina\u2019s new works draw upon India\u2019s history, narratives of immigration and transnational economic interchanges.<\/p>\n<p>One the highlights of the show was the preview showing at ABS Red Earth Gallery in Vadadora was inaugurated by the king and queen of Vadadora (Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad and Maharani Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad). They also got to meet the great grand niece of Mahatma Gandhi and were honored to present a lecture on their work, Diaspora on Devon: Stitching South Asian\/Jewish Intersections, at the Forum for Contemporary Theory and General Semantics in Vadodara on 12\/31\/09.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"560\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/u-cRlQjBowQ&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/u-cRlQjBowQ&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indigo &#8211;
