Asian American students study harder than any other ethnic group.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Asian-American students take far more Advanced Placement (AP) classes during high school than most other Americans. 33.8% of Asian American high school student take 5 – 9 AP classes<\/strong> vs. just 15.4% for White-Americans and 18.9% for Hispanic-Americans according to research by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This difference isn’t simply because Asian-American students live in places with more access to advanced classes either. As shown by the table here<\/a>, they actually have less access to AP courses than White or Hispanic Americans. Thus a simple explanation would be that they’re simply more driven to educate themselves, yet we realize the danger of simple explanations so feel free to suggest other potential causes<\/p>\n

HERI<\/a>: Asian American students are more than twice as likely to take between 5 to 9 AP courses in high school compared to White students (33.8% and 15.4%, respectively). Asian American students are also four times more likely (6.4%) to report taking between 10 to 14 AP courses in high school compared with White students (1.5%). This pattern by race\/ethnicity is similar for AP exam- taking, albeit with lower percentages.<\/p>\n
