{"id":5676,"date":"2010-04-26T19:04:23","date_gmt":"2010-04-26T19:04:23","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-04-26T19:04:40","modified_gmt":"2010-04-26T19:04:40","slug":"2010-Indian-Film-Festival-of-LA-announces-Award-Winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=5676","title":{"rendered":"2010 Indian Film Festival of LA announces Award Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>8th Annual Indian Film Festival<\/strong> of Los Angeles announced its 2010 Award winners with Laxmikant Shetgaonkar\u2019s THE MAN BEYOND THE BRIDGE (Paltadacho Munis) told in the native tongue of Konkani, a language otherwise hardly used in Indian cinema, as the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature and Dilip Mehta\u2019s COOKING WITH STELLA receiving an Honorable Mention in the category. Nishta Jain\u2019s AT MY DOORSTEP was named winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary and Deepa Bhatia\u2019s NERO\u2019S GUESTS received Honorable Mention. Ritesh  Batra\u2019s GAREEB NAWAZ\u2019S TAXI won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film with Anjoo Khosla\u2019s WAHID\u2019S MOBILE BOOKSTORE receiving an Honorable Mention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience Choice Awards<\/strong> went to Paresh Mokashi\u2019s <strong>HARISHCHANDRACHI FACTORY<\/strong> for Narrative, Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam\u2019s <strong>THE SUN BEHIND THE CLOUDS: TIBET\u2019S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM<\/strong> for Documentary and Terrie Samundra\u2019s <strong>KUNJO<\/strong> for the Short Film category.<\/p>\n<p>The festival hosted over 7,000 attendees at ArcLight Hollywood, had numerous sold out screenings, and added the international director&#8217;s cut of the Bollywood blockbuster <strong>MY NAME IS KHAN<\/strong> in its &#8220;Bollywood by Night&#8221; series. IFFLA Executive Director Christina Marouda said, \u201cThis year\u2019s festival has been a great opportunity to celebrate the work of known Indian filmmakers and introduce a new generation of talents as they enter a global filmmaking community. The 2010 award winners have proven to captivate IFFLA\u2019s audience with their unique and varied vision.
