{"id":5908,"date":"2010-06-16T19:06:51","date_gmt":"2010-06-16T19:06:51","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-06-16T19:06:51","modified_gmt":"2010-06-16T19:06:51","slug":"Is-the-Model-Minority-really-just-a-myth-","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=5908","title":{"rendered":"Is the &#8216;Model Minority&#8217; really just a myth?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A report released yesterday challenges the idea that<strong> Asian-American students<\/strong> are all succeeding in higher education. &#8220;The reality is the prevailing model minority myth is inaccurate, misleading, and damaging,&#8221; says the report, by the National Commission on <strong>Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The report notes that despite the successes of some students in some groups, a more nuanced look at all of the ethnic groups <strong>within Asian America<\/strong> show that many lag in college enrollment and in joining college faculties. The report calls for a renewed focus &#8212; by the government and educators &#8212; on focusing on such gaps and including <strong>Asian American groups<\/strong> among those who are the focus of
