{"id":6125,"date":"2010-08-02T20:08:59","date_gmt":"2010-08-02T20:08:59","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-08-02T21:08:18","modified_gmt":"2010-08-02T21:08:18","slug":"Indo-Am-Appointed-as-NY-s-First-Ever-Investment-Advisor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=6125","title":{"rendered":"Indo-Am Appointed as NY&#8217;s First Ever Investment Advisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indian-American financial expert <strong>Ranji Nagaswami<\/strong> has been appointed <strong>New York City&#8217;s first investment advisor <\/strong>by <strong>Mayor Michael Bloomberg<\/strong> after concerns over spiraling pension costs emerged.<\/p>\n<p>Nagaswami will be the &#8220;full-time, central advisor to the Mayor&#8217;s trustees on the five New York City retirement system boards and the New York City Deferred Compensation Plan Board&#8221;, the Mayor&#8217;s office said on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Nagaswami will be working as an advisor to mayoral appointees to the city\u2019s five pension boards. She will also become <strong>Chairwoman <\/strong>of the <strong>New York City Employees\u2019 Retirement System<\/strong>, replacing Bud Larson, the Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget.<\/p>\n<p>Indian-born Nagaswami came to the United States in 1984 to attend business school at Yale University. She brings over 20 years of experience in the private sector, including a 10-year tenure at <strong>AllianceBernstein<\/strong> where she was chief investment officer and oversaw $100 billion in assets and management.
