{"id":6169,"date":"2010-08-10T04:08:58","date_gmt":"2010-08-10T04:08:58","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-08-10T04:08:58","modified_gmt":"2010-08-10T04:08:58","slug":"Indian-American-loses-primary-for-Minnesota-Senate-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=6169","title":{"rendered":"Indian American loses primary for Minnesota Senate seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Indian-American Satveer Chaudhary<\/strong>, who in 1996 became the first <strong>Asian-American lawmaker in the Minnesota House of Representatives<\/strong>, has lost in the primary for the State Senate Seat, which he has represented for a decade.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I congratulate Barb Goodwin on her victory, and wish her the best in her bid for the Senate,&#8221; Chaudhary said in a statement as he conceded the seat to his challenger.<\/p>\n<p>In all, <strong>Chaudhary<\/strong> represented his district for 14 years, four years a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and 10 years as the State Senator.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure, <strong>Chaudhary<\/strong> set a number of electoral milestones.
