Gordon Ramsay<\/strong> \u2018s restaurant on Hospital Road<\/strong> overtook Japanese ramen bar, Wagamama<\/strong>, for title of London\u2019s Most Popular Restaurant in Zagat\u2019s 2011 London Restaurant category_ide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Wagamama<\/strong> won the coveted title last year but dropped to number four this year. The popular noodle house was created by Alan Yau<\/strong> – the man behind London\u2019s top Chinese restaurants, Hakkasan<\/strong> and Yauatcha<\/em><\/strong><\/em>. Both establishments have been awarded a Michelin Star<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It was announced today at the Zagat awards that Yau<\/strong> plans to extend his empire by adding a second Hakkasan in the upscale Mayfair neighborhood. <\/p>\n

In the wake of the recession, the Zagat survey found that Londoners are scaling down on dining out. On average, they spend 2.2 days per week eating out, down from 2.5 before the recession. This is dramatically less than other major cities including LA (3.4 times per week), New York (3) and Tokyo (3.3). For those looking for a good deal, Baozi Inn<\/strong>, a northern Chinese street food joint in Chinatown ranked eighth in the Best Buys<\/strong> category.
