Colin Hearts Kay<\/strong>, a feature film written, directed and illustrated by Emmy Award-winner Sebastian Conley, will be the opening night film at the 2010 Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, tomorrow, Thursday, October 21. It will simultaneously make its Southern California debut as an official selection of the 2010 San Diego Asian Film Festival. Colin Hearts Kay recently won the Audience Choice Award and the Best Editing Award at the 2010 Brooklyn International Film Festival<\/strong>, where it made its world premiere. The film played to sold-out audiences all three nights of its screenings, prompting festival programmers to add an extra show to accommodate enthusiastic ticket sales.<\/p>\n

\u201cColin Hearts Kay<\/strong> is the feel-good romantic comedy that we feel San Diego audiences are hungry for,\u201d says Mye Hoang, Associate Director at SDAFF. \u201cIn addition to its creative animated embellishments, the cultural issues presented in the interracial love story were appealing to us. The film displays an irresistible passion for filmmaking and the heart of the cast and crew behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colin Hearts Kay<\/strong> is a quirky romantic comedy set in Brooklyn, NY, that tells its story through the memories of cartoonist Colin Jenson as he tries to uncover what went wrong in his three-year relationship with his girlfriend Kay. Colin\u2019s pursuit of love suffers a setback when a handsome and rich rival, Salvatore, appears in Kay\u2019s life. Ultimately, it\u2019s up to Colin to erase the mistakes of his past and draw upon the lessons learned to win back Kay\u2019s love.<\/p>\n

The film stars Noah Starr, a regular on the Food Network\u2019s \u201cAsk Aida,\u201d \u201cLate Night with Conan O\u2019Brien,\u201d and \u201cThe Late Show with David Letterman,\u201d as title character Colin. Alongside him is Emmy Award-winning actress Emily Chang <\/strong>(\u201cThe Humberville Poetry Slam,\u201d \u201cThe Lounge,\u201d \u201cTrue Blood\u201d), who plays Brooklyn food blogger, Kay Ho. The film innovatively blends animation and live action, and is Conley\u2019s feature film debut as director\/writer.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople all over have loved this romantic comedy for how it stands apart from others in the genre. We are thrilled to bring it to both cities in October,\u201d said Nitin Madan of Got Lucky Pictures who, along with partner Daniel Scot Kadin, produced \u201cColin Hearts Kay.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Colin Hearts Kay<\/strong> will screen in Philadelphia at the Ibrahim Theater at the International House on October 21 at 7:30 pm and in San Diego at the UltraStar Theater on October 22 at 9:15 pm and October 25 at 9:40 pm. Director Sebastian Conley and cast members will in attendance for a Q&A after the screening in Philadelphia. Actress Emily Chang and Benjamin Conley, Sebastian\u2019s brother and producing partner\/cinematographer, will be present at the San Diego screenings. Both cities\u2019 screenings will be followed by official Colin Hearts Kay after-parties.<\/p>\n
