With the uncertainty of war on the Korean peninsula, it\u2019s only natural to think of the precious faces of South Korean celebrities which actually might see military action. South Korean men over the age of 18, including Koreans with foreign citizenship, are subject to compulsory military service. From a law that is effective since 2005, a dual citizen may not be allowed to abandon his Republic of Korea citizenship until he finishes his military service, or has received a special exemption from military service. South Korea does not permit dual citizenship after the age of 21. You must choose one country or the other.<\/p>\n
Lee Dong Gun<\/strong> is one of the actors who has been drafted. The actor already started to undergo compulsory military service on June 15th. Lee Dong Gun will commit to this duty for two years. His handsome face will not adorn the TV during that time. <\/p>\n Lee Dong Gun<\/strong> is not alone. Actor, Kim Nam Gil<\/strong>, will also follow the draft. The actor from \u2018Queen Seon-Deok\u2019 received a letter of invitation to participate in military service in March. However, his management asked for a delay on the condition that he would finish filming his drama series \u2018Bad Man\u2019.<\/p>\n Singer and actor, Rain<\/strong>, is also among the Korean actors who has to undergo compulsory military service. Rain has already received numerous summons to sign up for the draft, with the last one being on September 9th. With his tight schedule, management has been postponing the service. Rain<\/strong> will have a New Year\u2019s Eve concert in Seoul called \u201cAdieu 2010 with Rain\u201d before he enlists in the army next year.<\/p>\n Actor Jo Han Sun<\/strong> also had been getting calls to perform compulsory military service at the beginning of this year. He left his wife (married January 2010) and their 5 months baby girl on September 9th to fulfill his military obligation.<\/p>\n We will see who makes it to the front line, if any at all.
