{"id":6915,"date":"2010-12-12T18:12:40","date_gmt":"2010-12-12T18:12:40","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-12-12T18:12:40","modified_gmt":"2010-12-12T18:12:40","slug":"Pinto-unrecognized-in-Indian-slums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=6915","title":{"rendered":"Pinto unrecognized in Indian slums"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Actress Freida Pinto<\/strong> was left stunned on a recent charity visit to Mumbai&#8217;s slums &#8211; because nobody recognized her.<\/p>\n<p>The star was thrust into the spotlight following the <strong>success of 2008&#8217;s Slumdog Millionaire<\/strong> and she&#8217;s since used her fame to raise awareness of the poor living conditions of many in the Indian city, where she hails from.<\/p>\n<p>She embarked on a trip to the rundown areas with a non-governmental organization (NGO) recently, but none of the residents recognized her from the movie &#8211; surrounding her boyfriend and co-star Dev Patel instead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poor thing!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pinto tells Britain&#8217;s Sunday Times Magazine<\/strong>, &#8220;People in the city recognize me as the girl from Slumdog Millionaire, and inevitably they stare. But when I visited the slums with an NGO, nobody recognized me at all.
