Acclaimed South Korean film director Park Chan-wook is wielding a new cinematic tool: the iPhone.<\/p>\n

Park, director of the internationally known \u201cOld Boy,\u201d \u201cLady Vengeance\u201d and \u201cThirst,\u201d said yesterday his new fantasy-horror film \u201cParanmanjang\u201d was shot entirely on Apple Inc.\u2019s iconic smart phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cParanmanjang,\u201d which means a \u201clife full of ups and downs\u201d in Korean, is about a man transcending his current and former lives.<\/p>\n

The movie, made on a budget of $133,000, was shot using the iPhone 4 and is slated to open in South Korean theaters Jan. 27.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Park made the 30-minute film with his younger brother Park Chan-kyong.<\/p>\n

Park Chan-kyong said a wide variety of angles and edits were possible because numerous cameras could be used.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some good points of making a movie with the iPhone as there are many people around the world who like to play and have fun with them,\u201d Park Chan-wook said. Compared to other movie cameras, the iPhone was good \u201cbecause it is light and small and because anyone can use it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the directors attached lenses to their phones, and nothing was particularly different from shooting a regular movie.<\/p>\n
