{"id":7581,"date":"2011-02-11T00:02:37","date_gmt":"2011-02-11T00:02:37","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-10-15T13:37:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T13:37:10","slug":"in-malaysia-watch-out-for-the-valentine-s-day-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=7581","title":{"rendered":"In Malaysia, Watch Out for the Valentine\u2019s Day Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lovers in Malaysia beware: The Valentine\u2019s Day police are on the way.<\/strong> Parts of Muslim Malaysia have long been uneasy with the largely Christian Valentine\u2019s Day holiday, which celebrates romance and, some say, certain sinful activities including various types of canoodling.<\/p>\n<p>So this year, the youth wing of the country\u2019s opposition Islamic party, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), will be working to make sure Muslim residents behave, says Youth Chief Nasrudin Hasan Tantawi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to Mr. Nasrudin, beginning the night of Feb. 13 and all through the 14th \u2013 Valentine\u2019s Day \u2014 PAS Youth members will fan out across Malaysia<\/strong> to hand out leaflets promoting sin-free lifestyles and to talk to youths about moral Islamic values.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/scene\/2011\/02\/11\/in-malaysia-watch-out-for-the-valentines-day-police\/\" title=\"SOURCE\">SOURCE<\/a><br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lovers in Malaysia beware: The Valentine\u2019s Day police are on the way.
