Less than a week before the Geneva test launch of its first fully electric-powered car \u2013 the Phantom Experimental Electric 102EX \u2013 Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. Chief Executive Torsten M\u00fcller-\u00d6tv\u00f6s, has come to India on a business trip. The fact that the world\u2019s youngest owner of a Rolls-Royce is a 24-year old from the Delhi area , may provide a clue as to why Mr. M\u00fcller-\u00d6tv\u00f6s has come to India.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The country\u2019s surging demand for luxury cars has companies like Rolls-Royce and its competitors bullish on the Indian market. \u201cWe are here to look into its potential and expand dealer coverage,\u201d said Mr. M\u00fcller-\u00d6tv\u00f6s, at a press gathering in Mumbai, Thursday, \u201cWe need to make it a win-win situation and sustainable for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company, which sold 80 cars in India last year hopes to double its dealerships and aims to sell more than 100 cars in 2011. The company presently has two dealers: one in Mumbai, the other in Delhi. Since re-entering the Indian market in 2005 after a five-decade break, the company has performed well. Last year, sales in India grew six-fold from a year earlier, said Mr. M\u00fcller-\u00d6tv\u00f6s . He continues to remain optimistic. \u201cI won\u2019t be surprised if we have a three digit growth even this year,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n
