Filipino-American to serve on Fortune 500 Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Kettering University alumna is being honored as the only known <strong>Filipino-American<\/strong> to serve the board of a Fortune 500 company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marissa Toledo Peterson<\/strong>, who earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in mechanical engineering from the former General Motors Institute (Kettering) in 1983, is the only Filipino-American among more than 5,000 corporate board members, according to the Asian Journal.<\/p>\n<p>The publication cited a recent report by Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. that <strong>80 percent of corporations have no Asian Americans on their board<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peterson<\/strong>, international director of Louisville, Ken.- based health insurance provider Humana, will be the keynote speaker at the annual Economic Development Conference of the National Asian American Coalition in San Francisco in October.<br
