Written and directed by <strong>Mitsui<\/strong> and starring Christa B. Allen (&#8220;13 Going on 30&#8221;) and <strong>Julia Nickson-Soul<\/strong> (&#8220;Around the World in 80 Days&#8221;), <strong>&#8220;One Kine Day&#8221; will be screened at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 and at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11 at the Siskel Film Center in the heart of Chicago&#8217;s theater district.<\/strong> <strong>&#8220;One Kine Day&#8221;<\/strong> also stars Janel Parrish (&#8220;Bratz: The Movie&#8221;) and Jolene Blalock (television&#8217;s &#8220;Starship: Enterprise&#8221;). <\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"500\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/69AdmsBHTwM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Filmed on location in Hawaii and produced by Haolewood Productions, &#8220;<strong>One Kine Day&#8221; won the Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2010 Hawaii International Film Festival.<\/strong> &#8220;One Kine Day&#8221; takes us on a journey to &#8220;another&#8221; side of Hawaii &#8212; the side filmmakers rarely portray on screen. This &#8220;modest, involving drama&#8221; (Variety) captures a day in the life of slacker-skater Ralsto (newcomer Ryan Greer). In the course of &#8220;One Kine Day,&#8221; Ralsto sees his relatively carefree world fade away into a more complicated existence when he learns his 15-year-old girlfriend is pregnant for the second time.<\/p>\n<p>The soundtrack to <strong>&#8220;One Kine Day&#8221;<\/strong> includes Jawaiian, Hawaiian, hip-hop, R&#038;B and reggae &#8212; reflecting the eclectic and innovative nature of contemporary Hawaiian music today. Featured artists include Fiji, Na Wai, J-Boog, Pati, Kawao, Black Square and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitsui has been a pioneer in the Hawaii skateboard scene since 1995 when he opened 808 Skate<\/strong>, the first skate shop in Hawaii. While continuing to run his shop, Mitsui produced commercials and short programs for XL@M TV, an extreme sports network in Hawaii. &#8220;It&#8217;s 8:08,&#8221; Mitsui&#8217;s hour-long documentary, gained acclaim in the skateboarding world for its vivid cinematography and storytelling narrative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Across the islands of Hawaii, &#8220;da kine&#8221; is a pidgin phrase that can mean just about anything.<\/strong> The catch-all phrase can be heard everywhere as a substitute for &#8220;whatchamacallit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to watch the trailer, visit onekinemovie.com.
