{"id":8814,"date":"2011-05-12T05:05:09","date_gmt":"2011-05-12T05:05:09","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-05-12T05:05:09","modified_gmt":"2011-05-12T05:05:09","slug":"Rising-waters-in-Korea-force-evacuation-of-200-U-S-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=8814","title":{"rendered":"Rising waters in Korea force evacuation of 200 U.S. soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than <strong>200 U.S. soldiers had to be evacuated by helicopter<\/strong> yesterday after rising waters left them stranded at a training area near <strong>Chung Ju<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>No one was injured during the evacuation.<\/p>\n<p>According to a 2nd Infantry Division release, several days of rain caused the <strong>Chung Ju<\/strong> River to rise, washing out an access road leading into Training Area Tom, where 2nd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade soldiers had gathered for an exercise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>South Korean army units<\/strong> were called to the scene to assist in a possible water rescue. However, it was determined that the best way to get the U.S. soldiers to safety was by helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were called early in the morning,\u201d said South Korean Staff Sgt.
