{"id":9087,"date":"2011-05-28T03:05:10","date_gmt":"2011-05-28T03:05:10","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-05-28T03:05:10","modified_gmt":"2011-05-28T03:05:10","slug":"Another-Asian-girl-dominates-golf--Lydia-Ko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiancemagazine.com\/?p=9087","title":{"rendered":"Another Asian girl dominates golf &#8211; Lydia Ko"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Teenage golfer Lydia Ko<\/strong> could be about to join <strong>Tiger Woods<\/strong>, <strong>Michelle Wie <\/strong>and New Zealand&#8217;s own <strong>Danny Lee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Management giant IMG<\/strong>, who also represent Roger Federer and Justin Timberlake, <strong>has confirmed they are tracking the supremely talented Aucklander \u2013 the world No 1 women&#8217;s amateur.<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nDavid Rollo, vice-president of IMG&#8217;s golf division, says while formal talks cannot begin until<strong> Ko relinquishes her amateur status, the 14-year-old is &#8220;definitely on the radar&#8221;.<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;I&#8217;ve had emails on her from our guys who look after our female athletes and LPGA players in the United States,&#8221; Rollo said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s very young right now but obviously someone who has got a very, very bright future in front of her. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, aged 13, <strong>Ko<\/strong> became the first female to hold both the New Zealand and Australian amateur champion titles.<\/p>\n<p>Professional 2011 events have further reinforced her talent, finishing fourth in February&#8217;s New Zealand Open and runner-up, by a single stroke, in the previous month&#8217;s New South Wales Open \u2013 where victory would have seen her become the youngest winner of a women&#8217;s professional tournament.<\/p>\n<p><strong>She is the youngest player to make the cut in a Ladies European Tour event<\/strong> \u2013 a feat achieved when she was 12.<\/p>\n<p>This week <strong>Ko<\/strong> flies to the UK to compete in the British Amateur Championship before a crucial American trip in July, where she will attempt to qualify for the US Amateur Championship.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuff.co.nz\/sunday-news\/sport\/5069535\/Lydia-is-hot-property\">Source<\/a><br \/>\n<!--break--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teenage golfer Lydia Ko could be about to join Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie and New Zealand&#8217;s own Danny Lee.
