Following its 10 Oscar nominations and expansion into more theaters, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE jumped into the North American Top Five this weekend for the first time in its 11-week run. The Danny Boyle-directed film generated the highest per-theater average of any film in wide release and saw its weekend gross soar by 80% for a total gross of $56 Million. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE also won the top prize from the Producers Guild of America on Saturday, January 24. Last year, the PGA winner was ‘No Country For Old Men’ which also went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. UPDATE: Slumdog Millionaire wins SAG Award for Cast in a Motion Picture.
