The U.S. Department of Education and Department of Justice jointly issued new category_idance on how schools and colleges can take proactive measures to increase diversity and avoid racial isolation, rescinding the Bush Administration’s 2008 policy. AALDEF asserts that the greater diversity encouraged by the new policy will help mitigate problems faced by Asian American K-12 students, such as bullying and language access, as well as college students, who are often denied equal education opportunities.
