In addition to the announcements of positions for Jacqueline Nguyen, Edward Chen, Dolly Gee and Ro Khanna, word comes out that Preet Bharara has just been confirmed as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Bharara was recommended by Mr. Schumer for the powerful post, which has been held in the past by such figures as Robert M. Morgenthau and Rudolph W. Giuliani, and which handles federal cases in Manhattan, the Bronx and six counties north of the city.

He also prosecuted the Bernie Madoff case.
