Last October, Katherine Heigl addressed rumors that she was planning on adopting from Korea. She said, “It’s definitely something we’ve talked about and want to do.”
Katherine’s sister is adopted from Korea and she thinks it’s a great way of honoring her sister. “I want to honor her and her part in my life,” she says. “I think adoption is a hugely important thing.”
It’s now confirmed that Katherine and her husband, Josh Kelley, will be adopting a baby from Korea. In a sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres, airing today on Ellen, Heigl says that their child is from Korea and will be 10 months old at the end of the month.
“She was actually born the day before me in November which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign,” Heigl said. “I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life.”
Congratulations!
