Acclaimed director Danny Boyle’s newest film “Slumdog Millionaire” has won the top prize at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival earning the People’s Choice Award which is voted on by festival audiences. Starring Dev Patel, Madhur Mittal, and Freida Pinto along with veteran Bollywood stars Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, the film is based on the best-selling novel ‘Q&A’ by Vikas Swarup and tells the story about an 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants to be A Millionaire?” “Slumdog Millionaire” will be released by Fox Searchlight Pictures on November 28 in selected cities. It will open in additional cities across the country in December. An award-winning director, Boyle’s past films include Shallow Grave, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. The People’s Choice Award is often an indicator of future Academy Award nominations. There’s already an Oscar buzz surrounding the film, which opens on November 28.
