Giants on the brink of a second Super Bowl championship in four years
The Patriots and Giants are two of the NFL’s most popular teams, hailing from two of the country’s biggest media markets and ranking as two of the most valuable franchises in all of sports. Add it all up and Sunday’s game will be a great one. Particularly happy with the match up are corporate sponsors, as the game’s two quarterbacks are amongst the most prominent product spokesmen in all of sports.
Patriots QB Tom Brady ranked 3rd overall in the Bloomberg/Horrow Sports Ventures Power 100 and endorses Under Armour, Audi and Movado. Giants QB Eli Manning, who finished 15th in the Power 100, endorses Reebok, Toyota and Citizen Watches. Other Power 100 members playing in the Super Bowl are Rob Gronkowski (No. 77) and Wes Welker (No. 95). Unfortunately, not everyone can be a winner. The organization that manages Lucas Oil Stadium expects to lose money from hosting the Super Bowl! Indianapolis’s Capital Improvement Board is budgeting for $7.2 million in revenues against expenses of $8 million. The biggest expense is $4 million for extra police. Of course, that’s a small price to pay relative to the expected $150 million in economic impact.
Super Bowl Firsts
Every Super Bowl is special, but Sunday’s broadcast from Indianapolis will be unique for a few different reasons. For the first time ever, the Super Bowl will be available for streaming through Verizon mobile devices and online, where viewers will have access to multiple camera angles, live stats, and replays of Super Bowl ads.
Another first for NFL, the Disney Institute is training all volunteers in Indianapolis to ensure the customer service at the Super Bowl is flawless.
The Disney partnership aligns with the league’s “Fans First” initiative. Last year’s game in Dallas was plagued with problems.
Even the ads are setting milestones and making headlines.
NBC has sold out of its ad inventory for the game broadcast, averaging a record $3.5 million per 30-second spot.
Incredibly, some ads sold for as much as $4 million. The average cost for a 30-second commercial in Super Bowl I was $42,000, or adjusted for inflation, $266,500.
Super Bowl Advertisers Beware
With more than 100 million people expected to watch live, the Super Bowl presents an incredible opportunity for marketers. With that opportunity, however, comes a tremendous cost.
The multimillion-dollar question is are the ads worth it?
From a stock market perspective, the answer is yes. Super Bowl advertisers from 1996 to 2010 outperformed the S&P 500 by more than 1% on average in the week before and after the game, according to a study by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The boost in share price is attributed to the hype associated with advertising in the Super Bowl. It also explains why more than 50% of ads this year already are available online. Public companies advertising in this year’s game include Best Buy, Coca-Cola and GM.
Given how critical fans are of the ads, corporations need to make sure they can afford to fall flat. $4 million for 30 seconds is more than some companies’ entire ad budgets.
One of the most prominent examples of a Super Bowl ad gone bad was Just For Feet. The shoe retailer aired a racially insensitive ad during the 1999 game and filed for bankruptcy by the end of the same year. Advertiser beware…
Bottom Line (Prediction): New England Patriots 35, New York Giants 17.

Omg lol
Who do you think is the hotter one of the brothers, Peyton or Eli? Eli is my pick as you know. Not that any girl would be crazy enough to kick either one of them out of bed! They are REAL football stars, not like Timbear benchwarmer Hasselback. Elizabeth, take it from me, you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about now and never will in the future! No one wants your man or you for that matter. I can guarantee it and I am sure that Nancy Lee agrees with me. Elizabitch has more testosterone in her pinky than he seems to have in his entire body putting up with her bullying. “I told Tim, I said you better, I demanded that he etc. etc. etc.” She was like a crazy barking attack dog when she went after Bill Maher for insulting her when he appeared on ‘The View.’ Poor Bill was desperate for the closest escape exit and even babawawa looked like she wanted to help him this time.
You are very funny. It was my cheerleader outfit that did it. The guys in my family said that the reason why the Giants do so well is bc they are not distracted by the half naked cheerleaders bending all over the place with their cleavage on the sidelines. “Guys just want to focus on the game and play serious ball and how can you do that with all of that jumping around and cleavage??” they said. Can you believe that?? Typical. I’m sure if I had one of the hottest Asian Cheerleaders from last year’s issue sit next to one of them during the Superbowl party they wouldn’t say “You’re blocking my view with your tight ass and full cleavage. You are really ruining the game for me so would you please go in the other room?” You don’t see the NFL complaining about all of the money that the Cheerleaders raise with endorsements, merchandise, calendars, etc. either.
Wow your prediction was right on marissa
My prediction, although close was wrong. 🙁 However, the point is that the Giants won and the Patriots lost with a LOSING SCORE of 17!!! Eli Manning has the will to succeed even when the game is over for every other player and individual in the stadium. That is why he is Eli Manning and he is a WINNER!! You can see that will to win at any cost in his eyes. He is a living testament to Vince Lombardi’s words ““Leadership is based on a spiritual quality — the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.” “The spirit, the will to win and the will to excel — these are the things what will endure and these are the qualities that are so much more important than any of the events themselves.” Congratulations to the Giants and to Eli Manning–I knew you would do it again!! 🙂
My prediction is of course contrary to the general prediction. As a lifetime Giants fan, I predict that the Giants will win. I predict that the score will be transposed. New York Giants 35, New England Patriots 17
In honor of the Giants and the Manning Brothers (Gotta luv those guys), I designed a cheerleader uniform that is an all-american cross between the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and the Indianapolis Colts. It takes the best aspects of both uniforms with the addition of that exquisite New York City sophistication. I designed it with Eli in mind (could he be any hotter?) and am wearing it for the Superbowl Party for good luck!!! I will post it after the Giants Victory!!!
Go Giants! Go Giants! Go Giants!
XOXOXOXO
