“A Chorus Line” makes Asia debut in Singapore
One of America’s longest-running musicals, A Chorus Line, is in Singapore.
With more than 6,000 performances over 15 years, the broadway classic is making its rounds in Asia, with Singapore as its first stop.
A Chorus Line carries the stories of the people behind broadway musicals – giving the audience a taste of the trials that performers go through in the quest for a role.
Naturally, the performers feel for their characters.
The musical was first staged in 1975.
Little has changed, according to the associate director and choreographer, who used to perform in the original production.
The performers may be from a different generation but their stories of aspirations, hopes and fears are timeless.
“It gives us hope, in that everyone’s looking for a job, everyone’s looking for their purpose, and hopefully, we get to pursue our dream and actually make a living at it, or at least have the nerve to take that step and try to pursue your dream,” added Michael Gorman.
A Chorus Line is running at the Marina Bay Sands Theatre until 27 May.

omg my grandmother took me to A Chorus Line in the ’80s. They just don’t make plays like they used to. Most are gone within a few months..

HEY NANCY LEE, THERE IS A SONG ABOUT TITS AND ASS THAT YOU WOULD JUST LOVE, BC I KEPT SINGING “WHAT I DID FOR LOVE” AND “TITS AND ASS” OVER AND OVER AND OVER UNTIL MEI MOTHER GOT REALLY ANNOYED AND TOLD MEE TO SHUT UP ALREADEE AND NOT TO CALL HER AGENT = SHE SAID THAT HE WOULD CALL MEE- BUTT HE NEVER DID!!! HIS LOSS ENTIRELY = IT’S TOO LATE NOW!! 🙁
