Vietnamese Landscapes Star in Panoramic Photo Exhibit at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi

The wide, open spaces of Vietnam are coming to view in the heart of the capital during a month-long panoramic photo exhibit at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi.

On June 27, the hotel launched “Surprising Beauty” by photographer Bui Hong Thang at Le Panorama, itself a photo-worthy venue serving up 360-degree views of the sprawling capital from the hotel’s 19th floor. For an entire month beginning June 28, the exhibit will be open 24 hours a day in the hotel lobby, for hotel guests and outsiders alike.

The 130 photographs in the exhibit were shot in some of Vietnam’s most scenic locales. Viewers can expect to be transported to fascinating corners of the country not only through 30 wide-angle prints but also through an interactive setup on a large LED screen, allowing viewers to scroll through 100 landscapes in brilliant hi-res color and definition.

Photographer Hong Thang said he received the inspiration for his collection while working on a previous shoot at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. Hong Thang expanded his original concept of “Hanoi from above” to include outstanding Vietnamese vistas from Phu Quoc to Ha Giang province, with landscapes from Truong Sa island as the highhlight of the exhibit.

The exhibit is the third in a string of art and culture-related events to be staged by the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi in the second quarter of 2012. In April, the property collaborated with French-Japanese luxury brand Kenzo to host a ground-breaking fashion show at its re-launch party; and on June 21the city’s music lovers gathered for a nostalgic rock n’ roll-themed live music event at the rooftop Summit Lounge.

The exhibit will run until July 28, 2012.
