Trailer for “Drunken Dragon Festival 2012” at Macao Trading Company

Every year at Macao Trading Company, the infamous TriBeCa restaurant holds a debauchery festival named after the equally infamous annual festival on the island of Macau named “Drunken Dragon Festival”. Historically it is a festival that involves a lot of drinking and dancing in the streets to celebrate the legend of a Buddhist monk and a divine dragon who saved the Macao people from the plague during the Qing Dynasty.

Here in NYC, our version stays faithful to the tradition of A LOT of drinking with an all night open bar accompanied by a whole roast pig, little cartons of noodles, and dumplings. I host and perform every year at this gloriously fun event. This year we had Shien Lee & Night Fragrance Band come and sing all the great old Chinese songs from Old Shanghai. At the end of the night there is always a BIG finale performance recreating the slaying of the dragon! This year we had real dragon dancers come and do their thing. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite shows of the year!
