STDs in Suburban America

Let us first explore the facts surrounding an STD or “Sexually Transmitted Disease.” STD symptoms aren’t always obvious. If you think you have STD symptoms or have been exposed to an STD, see a doctor. Some STDs can be treated easily and eliminated, but others require more involved, long-term treatment. It is essential to be evaluated, and — if diagnosed with an STD, also known as a sexually transmitted infection (STI) — get treated. It’s also essential to inform any partners so that they can be evaluated and treated. If untreated, STDs can increase your risk of acquiring another STD such as HIV. This happens because an STD can stimulate an immune response in the genital area or cause sores, either of which might make HIV transmission more likely. Some untreated STDs can also lead to infertility. Sexually Transmitted Infections are often asymptomatic — without any signs or symptoms. In fact, this happens with a lot of STIs. Even though you have no symptoms, you’re still at risk of passing the infection along to your sex partners. That’s why it’s important to use protection, such as a condom, during sex. And visit your doctor on a regular basis for STI screening, so you can identify a potential infection and get treated for it before passing it along to someone else. Some of the following diseases, such as hepatitis, can be transmitted without sexual contact. Others, such as gonorrhea, can only be transmitted through sexual contact.

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection of your genital tract. Chlamydia may be difficult for you to detect because early-stage infections often cause few or no signs and symptoms. When they do occur, they usually start one to three weeks after you’ve been exposed to Chlamydia. Even when signs and symptoms do occur, they’re often mild and passing, making them easy to overlook. Signs and symptoms may include:
• Painful urination
• Lower abdominal pain
• Vaginal discharge in women
• Discharge from the penis in men
• Pain during sexual intercourse in women
• Testicular pain in men

Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection of your genital tract. The first gonorrhea symptoms generally appear within two to 10 days after exposure. However, some people may be infected for months before signs or symptoms occur. Signs and symptoms of gonorrhea may include:
• Thick, cloudy or bloody discharge from the penis or vagina
• Pain or burning sensation when urinating
• Abnormal menstrual bleeding
• Painful, swollen testicles
• Painful bowel movements
• Anal itching

Trichomoniasis is a common STI caused by a microscopic, one-celled parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis. This organism spreads during sexual intercourse with someone who already has the infection. The organism usually infects the urinary tract in men, but often causes no symptoms in men. Trichomoniasis typically infects the vagina in women. When trichomoniasis causes symptoms, they may range from mild irritation to severe inflammation. Signs and symptoms may include:
• Clear, white, greenish or yellowish vaginal discharge
• Discharge from the penis
• Strong vaginal odor
• Vaginal itching or irritation
• Itching or irritation inside the penis
• Pain during sexual intercourse
• Painful urination

HIV is an infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. HIV interferes with your body’s ability to effectively fight off viruses, bacteria and fungi that cause disease, and it can lead to AIDS, a chronic, life-threatening disease. When first infected with HIV, you may have no symptoms at all. Some people develop a flu-like illness, usually two to six weeks after being infected. Early HIV signs and symptoms may include:
• Fever
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Swollen lymph glands
• Rash
• Fatigue

These early signs and symptoms usually disappear within a week to a month and are often mistaken for those of another viral infection. During this period, you are very infectious. More-persistent or -severe symptoms of HIV infection may not appear for 10 years or more after the initial infection. As the virus continues to multiply and destroy immune cells, you may develop mild infections or chronic signs and symptoms such as:
• Swollen lymph nodes — often one of the first signs of HIV infection
• Diarrhea
• Weight loss
• Fever
• Cough and shortness of breath

Signs and symptoms of later stage HIV infection include:
• Persistent, unexplained fatigue
• Soaking night sweats
• Shaking chills or fever higher than 100.4 F (38 C) for several weeks
• Swelling of lymph nodes for more than three months
• Chronic diarrhea
• Persistent headaches
• Unusual, opportunistic infections
Public tolerance of premarital coitus has grown markedly since the 1960s. In 1969, 68% of the general public thought premarital coitus was wrong; this declined to 48% by 1975. By 1975, only 19% of college students thought premarital coitus was wrong. But the changes were something less than a smashing of monogamy. About half of the extra premarital sex was with the woman’s eventual spouse. Two-thirds of Klassen’s 1940’s-born women entered their first marriage either with no previous partners (37%), or with none but their husband-to-be (31%). Less than 3% of this miniskirted, bra-burning cohort had ten or more partners besides spouse; only a quarter had four or more. Just over half of the NHSLS cohort of women born from 1933 to 1942 were virgins at marriage, but only a fifth of women from cohorts born after 1952. By the 1970’s, each new cohort of women did seem to have had more premarital sex and more cohabitation than the one before — to say nothing of higher rates of divorce, more and earlier teenage sex, and much higher ratios (but not always rates) of illegitimacy and single parenting — than the one before.

When I say the letters “STD” it conjures up an image of young men and women of low economic status, drug users, transvestites and homo and bi-sexuality. Does it not?? Nothing could be farther from the truth. Believe it or not housewives who live in upscale suburbs in America are suffering from this disease and the number keeps on growing. Part of the reason for this has to do with their reluctance to come out of the closet. The reasons for this have to do with the highly guarded reputation of their husband, their children and most of all themselves! Image is everything in these upscale suburban neighborhoods that surround big cities like Manhattan! These individuals are active on the Charity Circuit, they are staples of their community and generally very well-respected for both their business position and their socio-economic status. When you look at a well-dressed housewife with the two or three children, the dog and the successful husband, you never think of that dreaded label STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease.) Contrary to this impression, so many housewives in upscale suburban areas are suffering with this problem. There are many reasons that contribute to the problem. For one, many of them have been sticking it out in unsatisfactory marriages in order to present the desirable image of “the happy family.” As this is not always the case, these women forge ahead with a brave face while the men look for sex outside of the marriage on a fairly regular basis without much discrimination with regard to willing participants. As we are all very well aware of, men are creatures of convenience! Because we are talking about men of wealth, the options are now as limitless as an ocean! They can engage in sex with a prostitute, a call girl, purchase “the girlfriend experience,” seduce co-workers, subordinates, neighbors and friends as well as with sex trafficking workers both in America and overseas.

It is quite a dichotomy because so many of these men who claim to want to contribute to the end of the sex trafficking business are actually regular customers who keep the business thriving. So many of these men travel on a regular basis and as such engage in these activities behind closed doors, if you will. In very much the same way, Pornography is so lucrative because the same men who act out against it in these suburban communities are actually fully paying customers! It isn’t difficult to figure out that most American men engage in the viewing of pornography on a regular basis because the sheer numbers prove it. This attitude is very similar to the take on the Madonna/Whore complex. I personally do not care whether or not a man is viewing porn on a regular basis but there is a line where an interest becomes an all out obsession. Pornography is a highly addictive drug for a man because it is cheap, germ free and does the job (no pun intended) very well and fast. The problem that I have with these Porno Addicts is that so many of them are hypocritical in that they speak out against it when they are the ones driving the business itself. Due to the advancements in Technology it is going to become more and more difficult for these “peeping toms” and “perverted old men” to hide. Also, after a while porno is not enough for these oversexed perverts. Porno almost acts as the foreplay to a much more intimate situation with a coworker, subordinate, neighbor and/or friend. Men are weak as it is and when pornography acts as a catalyst to a much more adventurous tryst, they become obsessed with sex itself.

An acquaintance of mine was infected with Herpes by her husband. They live in an upscale community right outside of Manhattan and they are on the Philanthropy Circuit, the Country Club Set, and are highly respected Community Board Members. This woman chose to stay “in the closet” until it finally became impossible to ignore the issue and had to seek treatment from a medical professional. She could not tell any of her close friends, family members or influential members of her community. I believe that she confided in me because she somehow believes that I know a lot about this due to AsianceMagazine, and the “Sex and Health Columns” in particular. I am positive that my never ending “single status” greatly contributed to this impression. Married women always think that when you are single and over the age of 35 that you are as experienced as Jenna Jameson and then some.

They imagine you as a “swinger” having tantric sex every night and swinging from the Chandeliers! On the contrary, most single women of my generation stay in long relationships like I have or live without an intimate relationship at all for years at a time. We are perfectionists when it comes to practicing “safe sex” as we entered a world with a full-blown HIV epidemic! She came to me for advice and I really didn’t have much to give her but it sparked an interest regarding STDs in upscale Suburban America! I knew that she couldn’t possibly be the only one in this situation and so I ventured on by researching the topic with a vengeance on the internet. What I found was truly shocking!

Most shocking is that the Senior Citizens in these upscale suburban areas need to start using condoms! New York Times op-ed by Ezekiel J. Emanuel suggests that many senior citizens could use the same sex education that teenagers receive, as STDs in the single senior citizens communities are on the rise. Of all the seniors on Medicare, there are just 5 percent using it for the free STD testing.

Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control say that syphilis and Chlamydia infections increased by 52 and 31 percent for Americans over the age of 65 between 2007 and 2011. Shockingly, those numbers are nearly identical to people in their early 20s. The problem is that they’re apparently unfamiliar with the concept of safe sex, which presents a problem when living in dorm-like quarters. Combine retirement communities, longer life, unfamiliarity with condoms and Viagra — and what do you get? You get an S.T.D. epidemic among the Social Security generation that rivals what we imagine is happening in those “Animal House” fraternities. If you’re going to use that Medicare for penis pumps and Viagra then you better use it to get tested. Invest in some condoms, too! There is an upscale retirement development in Northwestern Florida called “The Villages” that is reported as having one of the highest percentages of STDs in the Nation!

On the other hand, the baby boomer generation of housewives is at almost equal risk. These women were raised during a boom time economy and entered a world of sex, drugs and rock and roll! Their mantra was “free to be me” and casual sex was encouraged by such feminists as Gloria Steinem. The majority of women in this particular demographic range from married women with children to Senior Citizens. They are either getting divorced and looking for new partners; usually older men who fall into the Senior Citizen demographic or staying in dead marriages for the sake of the children and/or to uphold their status in society. Either way, they are at great risk. There are several factors that contribute to this thesis. First of all, there are more single older men on the market than ever before! Armed with their Viagra and failing to practice safe sex, they pose the greatest risk as disease carriers. Many other contributing factors such as the growing divorce rate amongst baby boomers, technology, people living much longer lives, and the sheer number of single people as a whole, make this a scary reality!

The fact that most of these men are of high socio-economic status and have an endless ocean of sexual opportunities, poses a much greater risk. The reason why my aforementioned acquaintance was infected with Herpes turned out to be a result of a number of trysts that her husband had with some prostitutes while away on business trips. This activity is also the most common practice amongst men of wealth. Prostitutes are paid to keep quiet and stay behind closed doors. They are never paid for the sex but rather for their discretion and anonymity. Ask yourself, how many times you have been sexually accosted by a co-worker, boss, neighbor, husband of a friend, old friend, client, and you name it! Workplace affairs are the most common because men are creatures of convenience so if you are right in front of them, they see you every day so if you are a fairly attractive woman, chances are better than not that you will be addressed. Ask yourself when this happens to you, who is this man and where the hell has he been? Regardless of whether or not he is married, ask yourself, if he is coming on to me so fast how do I know that this is not a pattern of behavior with this guy?? I could be number 20 or number 200 for all I know. The best thing to do when this happens to you is to avoid the situation completely or at least long enough to really know the man and what his actual intentions truly are! More times than not, the men are only after a new sexual conquest and/or want to make up for the lack of sexual activity in either his marriage or his life. So many marriages today are strictly marriages of convenience. If that is the case, run for the hills and never look back! Look out for yourself and just think of that man “taking a shit” so to speak or infecting you with a disgusting STD! There is a device called the IBN Micrometer that was developed at the Asian Innovation Awards. This device is fairly reasonable and will test the saliva of a man for any possible STD’s.

However, as I am a complete germaphobe, I highly recommend obtaining a bona fide medical report first. (No pun intended.) People believe that is taking it to an extreme, however; taking it to an extreme is allowing yourself to become infected by a man who you will never even see again! This happens all of the time with the women in today’s dating world. The “Invisible Fence for Men” is a great idea that I have come with as it will put an end to their “dirty dog” behavior! We need to control a remote that will send an electric shock to the body whenever they attempt to swap spit with any other woman! Someone out there will come out with it and I will be the first one to buy it! ?

Finally, I would like to leave you with this story. It is the story of a highly celebrated Billionaire, Larry Hillblom, and Founder of DHL. This White American Billionaire engaged in regular sexual activity with very young girls in the Philippines. He was highly educated, very rich, super smart and extremely dynamic. He was also known to be quite eccentric as he would always request to sleep with virgins between the ages of 12-17 years of age when he was well into his 30’s at the time. The young girls who he employed to have sex with him were sex slave workers. I believe that he kept the business going on his contributions alone as the sole founder of DHL.

Hillblom was an aircraft enthusiast, and flew several vintage aircraft. His seaplane crashed on May 21, 1995, on a flight from Pagan Island to Saipan. The bodies of the pilot, Robert Long, and of a fellow passenger / business partner were found; Hillblom’s body was never recovered. Hillblom’s will stated that the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) would receive his estate, and did not specify any children in the 1982 will. There was no “disinheritance clause” in the will, which caused quite a bit of controversy.
After his death, his estate was the subject of lawsuits from children fathered across the Pacific. According to Saipan law, illegitimate children born after a will has been drawn up are entitled to make a claim on the estate. Women from several Asian and Pacific countries made claims that he had deflowered them by committing statutory rape on them and was the father of their illegitimate children. Most of the attorneys in Saipan became involved in the case, according to one Saipan attorney. However, since Hillblom’s body was not recovered in the crash, there was no DNA that could be used to determine paternity. Mysteriously, his house in Saipan was discovered to have been wiped clean. The sinks had been scrubbed with muriatic acid, and toothbrushes, combs, hairbrushes and clothes were found buried in the backyard, making them useless for DNA testing. Investigators discovered he had a facial mole removed at UCSF Medical Center, and it was still there; UCSF agreed to relinquish the mole (although its release could, of course, deprive UCSF of the estate if it could be used to prove Hillblom had sired children). It later turned out that the mole was not from Hillblom. Hillblom’s mother, brother, and half-brother initially refused to submit their DNA (which could have also been used to determine paternity of the various children). Investigators then decided to use a different tactic: how did the DNA of the children compare with each other? Since the girls were located in different countries, if children shared the certain DNA markers, they would almost certainly have the same father. In the end, a judge ordered Hillblom’s brother and mother to submit to genetic testing. The tests confirmed that four of the eight claimants were Hillblom’s children. It was ultimately determined that a Vietnamese child, Lory Nguyen; Jellian Cuartero, 5, and Mercedita Feliciano, 4, of the Philippines; and Junior Larry Hillbroom, of Guam were fathered by Hillblom. In the final settlement, each of the four children received $90 million (about $50 million after taxes and fees), while the remaining $240 million went to the Hillblom Foundation, which followed Hillblom’s wishes and donated funds to University of California for medical research.

In honor of STD awareness, I would like to thank any of the rich, white, and eccentric married men who propositioned me and then rejected me before anything could happen. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart as I am healthier for it and you saved yourselves from being boiled!

You get that hand checked! However, although you’ve acknowledged that your “right hand” is your best friend, you also need to get your “pipes” cleaned and your “equipment” checked out and sanitized! 🙂 And while your at it, please be sure to comb your hair and wash both hands thoroughly each and every day! Through crowd sourcing and collaborative innovation, hopefully we can put an end to STI’s and STD’s! I’ll be entering all of this “valuable feedback” into my Marisa Sung Global Brain/Database. Have a great night and I really hope this helps! 🙂

Excellent article on the collateral damage from the sexual revolution. Increases in STD and STI can also lead to increased spread due to unsafe procedures at hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Unfortunately, unwanted propositions are all too frequent, also.
