On September 25, 2009 from 7:00pm-10pm the Chinese Students Club and Sounds of China are proud to co-host a brand-new event at Columbia University! Working in conjunction with Modern Sky Records, a major Beijing record label, we are excited to hold the Sing For China Tour – Modern Sky Festival NYC. The concert will bring three of China’s biggest and best bands – Hedgehog, Queen Sea Big Shark, and Casino Demon – to the U.S. as part of an unprecedented effort by the Chinese music community to support children orphaned by AIDS in China as well as to introduce Americans to China’s emerging independent music scene.

The Sing for China national tour is primarily a series of benefit concerts for the China AIDS Orphan Fund (CAOF). Since its inception in 2003, the CAOF has followed its mission to improve the lives of children orphaned by HIV/ AIDS in central China, especially Henan Province. The organization’s activities include education, advocacy, funding research and support for organizations serving the affected population in China. Funding priorities include (1) Education for AIDS orphans, (2) humanitarian services to families affected by HIV/ AIDS, (3) Medical care and training, and (4) foster care and orphanage programs.
