FROM RHODA: I like to keep it simple with a bit of mystery. I grew up in the Midwest and decided to move to the Big Apple. The intensity of the people and the City that never sleeps, excites me.

I am just a simple chick who has lived in Manhattan for about 9 years and has a bundle of stories and advice to share. My answers are based on logic from my past experiences and personal advice I have passed along to my friends.Rhoda Roc has dated in New York City for a long time.

My answers are based on logic from my past experiences and personal advice I have passed along to my friends. My friends had always asked me for personal advice and I thought this would be a great outlet to share our experiences. I love…love to Meet new friends and listen to their own adventures. Let’s live, laugh and share stories.

QUESTION: I am Korean American. I am dating a white Jewish guy. My parents don’t approve. They want be to break it off with him before it goes any further. I don’t understand why they can’t accept him. I’m happy and he treat’s me well… What can I do to show them and ease their mind? He might be the one.

Rhoda: Interracial dating is a good thing but it is the forbidden love. . Like most Asian families, they are very traditional and will not understand the modern times you live in. They believe culture clashes would cause problems and shame and that your partner is ignorant to your beliefs and customs. It is a painful experience. If both of you are committed to the happiness of your relationship, you should be upfront and open about your relationship. Time investment and growth in your relationship could be a good thing. Your parents might eventually accept him once they believe he is serious about you. If you are madly in love, race does not matter and neither should what you parents say… Race should not prohibit love. If you are questioning “he could be the one” then he is not the one for you.

You will know if he is the ONE.

QUESTION: How can you tell whether a guy that you’re dating really likes you for you or he has an Asian fetish? I really thought he liked me for me, but since we’ve recently become intimate he says derogatory expressions like” I like Sucky” and “I know you want it Asian Princess” during sex. I can’t help but wonder what this guy is really all about?

Rhoda: He sounds very kinky and I would get the hell out. It seems he only has sexual intentions and fantasies to fulfill… and you ARE it. Some men prefer blondes and others prefer Asian features with black hair, olive skin and slanted eyes… .He sounds like a FREAK.

QUESTION: I have traveled back and forth from the United States and Asia most of my life. I recently landed a job in a high profile investment bank. Not only do I not have time to meet people due to long hours at work, but I “m not really interested in the ones I work with. They are so arrogant and obnoxious, even Asian guys. What would you suggest?

Rhoda: Your question sounds too familiar. You need to prioritize and the main priority is your personal life. Careers are so demanding and it does not leave you much time for yourself. The next thing you realize, time has passed and the main personal fulfillment has not been fulfilled. You need to find friends that like to do the same things you like to do and constantly socialize.

You might want to volunteer, go on a single cruise, go to wine tasting clubs, or join a gym. You might not find Mr. Right at first, but you will definitely meet new friends. You cannot have a relationship, if you do not make the initiative. So start planning.

Got a question for Rhoda? Leave it in the comments section and she’ll gladly get back to you!
