If you’ve been reading my column for awhile then you know I’m equal opportunity when it comes to dating, especially in New York City, where ethnic men are the cream of the crop. The black men I’ve actually had the pleasure of going on an actual date with have been highly educated, intelligent and high money earners, however they’re not without their male detriments. Most of them are professionals, not to say I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or hanging with black men in clubs which reiterates my point that New York City men are pigs, race aside.
Like I stated in The White Man versus The Asian Man, I’ve had my share of dating experience; good, bad, ugly, infected (black and Asian)..you name it. I’ll address the stereotypes, truths and my own plain experiences.
Black Man Stereotypes – Criminals/drug dealers, Alpha male, uneducated, Sexual prowlers, All desire to sleep with white women, Lazy, athletic skills, large penis, angry, hustlers.
Asian Man Stereotypes – Lack confidence in talking to women, angry, small penises, smart, short, bottom of the barrel, proper, boring, well mannered, think they own Asian women.
In MY DATING New York City experience:
Black Man –
Cons: think they own all women of color, think they are king, treat women like an object, rude, feel like a number, very sensitive when it comes to respect and race
Pros: entertaining, exciting, adventurous, well dressed.
Asian Man –
Cons: lacking in confidence while talking to me, boring
Pros: Proper, respectful, focused, express their feelings on how much they like me on a date
Expect to feel like you rode a horse across the Grand Canyon for a weekend. Assless chaps anyone?
Let me elaborate:
Black Man dating experience:
I’ve been on dates with two different black men since I’ve been in New York City. Both of them I met through work related functions. Remember, I’m in the finance industry. Yeah I still have a job. Both had everything going for them, good looking, educated, charming and had money.
While, they were both professional and wined and dined me, I still felt like I was being played to some degree. To this day, I could not put my finger on it. Basically, they were juggling other professional women, me included.
In da clubs:
Black men I have met in clubs are a completely different story. I was introduced to a former NBA Basketball Player at Marquee in New York City through a mutual friend. As we shook hands to say hello, he took my hand and put it down his pants. Ya hum. Totally not joking.
Sometimes I think certain rappers have hurt the reputation of black men. It’s easy to pick up an arrogant, chauvinist, entitled persona based off successful, black men in media today. Although having Obama as President has given black men a more respectable ideal. I hope his gentlemen treatment of Michelle rubs off on these men.
Black Man bedroom experience:
Anal, anal, anal..expect them to want it right away too.. And they last forever.. expect to feel like you rode a horse across the Grand Canyon for a weekend. Assless chaps anyone? Asian Men dating experience:
I’ve found that dating Asian men over the years has been slowly changing. I’ve noticed more confidence in each new Asian man I hang out with. Dating an Asian man is comforting, warm and secure.
Also, Asian men think I’m their property and that it should be a given that I will go out with them, whether or not I’m attracted to them. They are much more respectful on a date than a white man. They talk about other things besides sex. They are aggressive in their pursuit for a next date. They have a lot to offer financially.
Asian Man bedroom experience:
The “Asian small penis size” stereotype is just that, a stereotype. It’s not true as I explained above. The body hair is great, minimal.
None of these dates have led to serious relationships. I’m still single! I know what I want. I know how I want to be treated. I must come across as any easy piece of ass? Or dating men in New York City are just looking for an easy piece of ass? Dating in New York City has its own issues.
Black men are not greater than Asian Men, and Asian Men are not greater than Black men. I would definitely recommend a romp in the hay with a black man for every woman! I wanted to share my opinions as an equal opportunity, serial dater in NYC.

I think the point people are trying to make is that from your article/breakdown of the races it does seem to sterotype black men. The myth of the black man is just that a myth. I’m a black man who lives in the San Francisco bay area. I have been described as very handsome. I keep myself in shape by practicing tae kwon do and I hold a black belt. You will find me up at 4:30am working out at least 4 days/per week. I believe in discipline. I am an accomplished violinist, playing since I was age 7. I am an exceptionally athletic. I have a BS degree in Computer Science and Applied Math and an MS in Comp Sci. I am an experienced software engineer who will be a lawyer next year. Some general comments here. There are many different types of people, in every race. The problem for anyone is to avoid the stereotypes and judge each person individually AFTER you have had a chance to get to know them. If you are an asian person who cannot get beyond the negative stereotypes of black men to recognize the depth, intelligence, and extraordinary versatility of ANY black man, then you are severely limited in your development.

Your second paragraph was simply a barrage of asian stereotypes you’ve jumbled together, that as a whole were designed to attack the author and perhaps asian women in general. You do so under the guise of “This is how some people think asian women are… but not meeeee.” Then why are the stereotypes worth mentioning? If you feel a certain way about asian women just write it for god’s sake. Don’t quickly follow up your resentment with a statement that says YOU don’t feel that way. You can choose to be offended or not. I didn’t even write that all men were ruining this site but was reiterating the fact that SOME do because SOME people on this site have nothing better to do in their writing other than to focus on wording they believe to be politically-incorrect instead of engaging in a meaningful exchange of ideas. I love your post, but as a black man i find you to be a typical New yorker. The night life with all the glamour tends to cloud you big city girls’ minds. I being a well spoken black man raised in a small town in South Carolina, educated and fairly knowledgable on every subject find your comments a little “hum drum” but quite interesting. Women of all races tend to forget about the good black man that’s raised in the south.We can also hold it down in the bed and stay married to our spouses, raise our kids,have our own land and still maintain the family values and closeness that were handed down to us since we were brought to this country… Women are slowly finding this out but most are too quick label us because of the black men that were born and raised in the city. All stereotypes are gross exaggerations of reality. Black men ARE ON AVERAGE “slightly” larger in endowment than Asian or white men but we are talking about a tenth of an inch here or there. The size of one’s package has little to do with performance. It’s almost like measuring the ability to grow a beard. Some women prefer longer, fuller beards and some prefer less hairy men but having or lacking facial hair doesn’t affect masculinity.
Are there lots of confident, thuggish black men…yes.
Are there lots of intelligent, domineering Asian men…yes.
Are there lots of funny, conniving white men…yes.
Of course there are also lots of intelligent black men that lack confidence and even Asian men that are cocky and lack morals. The writer of the article is only discussing her personal experiences so we have to take it for what it is.
As a black male from Texas, I can honestly say that while there have been a few Asian women that have shown interest, it is not that common. Most Asian women that I know date and marry Asian men…(almost all of them). The few that date outside their race seem to be fairly open to any ethnicity. In my experience though…Vietnamese, Filipino etc. seem to be somewhat comfortable around blacks once they get to know you. I’ve noticed the same with Koreans. Chinese and Japanese…different story. I’m not saying they are against dating/socializing with blacks as a group…but the interracial relationships between blacks and Asians I’ve seen rarely include a Japanese or Chinese partner.

You missing out. New York? Ha! All people do is hibernate there. I am living in the Midwest so I know how the cold ass weather is. I been to the east coast and lived in the south. California is the only spot for Asian where it be popping FOR US, and Hawaii. Everybody knows that. I lived and was born in Cali finally left when I was 27 after moving back in forth several times. Out of all the other states I lived in and travel to, ain’t nothing like Cali. I been to Washington, Hawaii, Nevada(Vegas!), Texas, Georgia(ATL baby, shutout to all the Asian on CHERRYHILL ST.!), Indiana, Michigan, Illinois(shutout to ChiTown!), the list goes on. Salinas convenience store murder Police met with stunned and angry members of the Korean American community in Salinas, CA this week following the brutal murder of 62-year old Sook Mi Oh and the shooting of two others at a convenience store, reports the Monterey County Weekly.
Some admitted they were scared. Others demanded more police protection. Still others say it was fruitless to try to blame the police.
“We cannot blame anyone,” pizzeria owner Mun Yi said by way of introduction. “We cannot blame the mayor.”
Police urged those at the meeting to support a tax measure on the November ballot that could boost police funding. But at least one in attendance wasn’t pleased to hear that.
“We have to send a message to those murderers,” said Yong Soo Oh, a small business owner. “I hear you say, ‘We’re underfunded.’ That’s not a good signal to criminals.”
So far $4500 has been raised toward a goal of a $20,000 reward for the arrest of the two suspects.
Police released a graphic video of the incident below. Warning: some may find the video disturbing.

Last week, DaQuan Barnes, 21, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the grisly death of 85-year-old Yoko Cullen.

On May 20, 2011, Barnes along with two accomplices, LaTosha Cunningham, 39, and DeMarcus Barnes, 30, waited outside a Collinsville bingo hall to attack Cullen, according to police.
Once outside, the grandmother was beaten with tire irons and shoved into the trunk of her 2008 Mazda and driven to East St. Louis, where her car was set on fire.
Barnes admitted to police that they obtained Cullen’s ATM card and PIN number. His share from the robbery was $130.
An autopsy confirmed that Cullen was alive when the car was set ablaze, and suffered an horrific death.
The Riverfront Times reported:
Police say that Cunningham knew that Cullen, of Belleville, was a regular at bingo games and plotted the crime.
Under the terms of the pleas agreement, Barnes will receive a 60-year prison sentence instead of life in prison.
Cunningham and Barnes have yet to be tried. Both are currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail on $3 million bail.
Cunningham is no stranger to trouble…

In 1993, a jury convicted Cunningham of shooting a woman, then 61-years old, in the chest after robbing her of $205. The victim, a retired Landshire employee, was giving Cunningham a ride when she testified Cunningham demanded her purse then shot her. Cunningham claimed that it was a case of mistaken identity. The victim picked her out of a lineup twice.
Cunningham’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 19.
