Four Asian Designers to Watch
The collection “Doii Paris ” of designer Doii Lee at the CFDA & S. Korean Ministry Of Culture Exhibition Announcement at The New York Public Library on Feb. 12, 2010 in New York City.
Forget Paris or New York: Next week, four of Asia’s top designers — Barney Cheng, Doii Lee, Keita Maruyama and Alex Wang — will showcase their collections in Hong Kong.
On Jan. 17, the couturiers will show off their designs at the Fashion Extravaganza, a one-night show that kicks off the ninth edition of the four-day World Boutique event organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The World Boutique show takes place at the same time as Hong Kong Fashion Week, which also runs Jan. 17 to 20, but is a separate event.
Here’s a primer on these four designers, and why their Asian labels may be worth watching:
Barney Cheng, Hong Kong
Keita Maruyama, Japan
Doii Lee from Korea
Alex Wang from China
