Cheerleaders bringing in cash for NFL teams

This year’s Super Bowl features the Green Bay Packers against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But there will be no cheerleaders. The Packers and the Steelers are just two of six teams (along with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears) that don’t field a pom-pom waving squad.

Although their seasons are over, cheerleaders are an important part of the NFL off-season for the 26 teams that do have them. Why? Because, when executed well, they provide endless clicks for Web surfing fans and additional revenue in appearances (teams usually charge between $100 and $500 per hour per cheerleader) and swimsuit calendar revenue.

In fact, with plenty of women to audition and money to be had (most cheerleaders make less than $100 a game), the number of cheerleaders has increased exponentially in recent years.

In 2010, 15 teams each dressed more than 30 cheerleaders for games and have found ways, especially online, to generate revenue from their top squads. However, as valuations go, NFL teams are hesitant to put a dollar figure on their cheerleading squads, but the use of these cheerleaders as a vehicle for marketing is certainly in the public eye.

You probably expected to find the Dallas Cowboys on the top of this list, but no team has a more extensive of a library of cheerleader photos than the Indianapolis Colts. You can sort through over 2,000 shots that not only can be looked at, but also ordered. No other team in the league allows fans to do that.

The Colts are also the only team in the league to post a photo gallery of some of the favorites to join the squad next season. Fans can look at 65 candidates for the team and vote for who they think should join the team next.

Here is the ranking of the top teams that take the most monetary advantage of their cheerleaders.

The top five:

1. Indianapolis Colts
2. Houston Texans
3. Dallas Cowboys
4. Miami Dolphins
5. Philadelphia Eagles

The NFL Cheerleaders are a huge attraction and marketing vehicle for the NFL teams! Congratulations to Duyene of the Houston Texans and Truly of the Miami Dolphins for making the top five!!! The number one team listed here The Indianapolis Colts wanted to participate and they were very sweet and professional but unfortunately they did not have any cheerleaders of Asian descent this year and asked that we contact them next year. We encourage more girls of Asian descent to try out for the Indianapolis Colts! We want to add the Colts to our list for next year!! We voted the Colts as the team with the best uniforms! I am going as a Colts’ Cheerleader to my 2011 Halloween Party because I loved the uniform so much! The other two teams on this list were also very sweet and cooperative but due to unforeseen circumstances, were unable to participate.

The top five were all included in my article, “Asian Cheerleaders of the NFL,” however. The Dallas Cowboys: The Most Famous Cheerleaders Of Them All, The Indianapolis Colts: Voted Best Uniform, The Philadelphia Eagles: The only team in history to have a renowned designer create their uniforms and an Asian one at that–Vera Wang.

I promise to get a much earlier start on this issue next time and ladies please try out for these teams! We need more Asian/Asian American Cheerleaders on the NFL Cheerleading Squads.

That adds much additional revenue to the NFL Team’s overall profit.

This is the first Superbowl in 45 years without Cheerleaders! It will be a harsh lesson learned in finance among other things. The Cheerleaders are a major attraction for the NFL Football League. The Superbowl will not be the same without it!

The Cheerleaders are such accomplished women! I was so impressed with each young woman that I interviewed. They have done everything from starting up charities to teaching professional dance to majoring in engineering, etc.
