95 Singaporeans have returned from Egypt

Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said it has facilitated the return of 95 Singaporeans, including 81 students following protests in Egypt.

In a statement, the ministry said it expects another 102 students and 31 Singaporeans to return on February 4. It added the safety and well-being of Singaporeans in Egypt has been of paramount concern.

The Singapore embassy in Cairo together with the Islamic Religious Council and the Singapore Student Welfare Organisation in Egypt (PERKEMAS) have maintained close contact with all Singaporean students studying there.

In view of the tense security situation, the ministry said Singapore Airlines has also facilitated the return of all Singaporeans who wish to leave Egypt.

I applaud Singapore Airlines for their assistance in this dangerous situation!
