Love both of them, can’t decide between the two!

For the Oscars, my overall pick is “The King’s Speech” due to the superb cast and the fact that the movie was of superior quality despite the lack of sex and violence. I have to applaud the Weinsteins for their commitment to making high quality films that inspire people! Kudos to Harvey Weinstein!!
He gets that the key to quality filmmaking lies in the old-fashioned art of storytelling. Colin Firth made me cry during his speech. The movie really struck a cord with me!

Another great French Film was Mademoiselle Chambon. Very romantic and passionate! Leave it to the French!

Obviously, I watch many French Films.

While watching “The King’s Speech”, I became intrigued by the character of Wallis Simpson, and her relationship with Edward. What could that possibly have meant for the Royals at the time? The English throne being usurped by a so-called American harlot with a fondness for men, parties and expensive jewellery? A bit of research brought out some interesting facts and photos. Having made the ultimate sacrifice for their love, the couple spent the rest of their lives in exile, mainly in France. Wallis was an extremely glamorous woman, as so many old photos show.

She is undoubtedly one hell of an exciting woman! I am adding Wallis Simpson to my bucket list of people I would invite to dinner if I could invite anyone in history.

I am a huge fan of Colin Firth. I had a crush on him when he played Mr. Darcy on my absolute favorite version of “Pride and Prejudice” produced by the British Broadcasting Company. The movie starring Keira Knightly was a disappointment in comparison.

I have an entire collection of BBC Classics including Tom Jones, Upstairs Downstairs, Mol Flanders, Pygmalion, Pride and Prejudice, etc. The BBC only casts the finest actors mostly from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and other theatrical academies of similar status. I noticed that a few of the actors in “The King’s Speech” were featured in many of the BBC classics!

We need more movies of this nature that inspire people to overcome their hardships in order to achieve above and beyond what they ever thought possible!

I would highly recommend French and Italian Foreign Films as well! “La Danse” was one of my favorite films of all! Another great French film was “Tell No One” along with a film about a teacher who falls in love with the father of one of her students.

    A feature about “La Danse”

I loved this film “Tell No One” from a few years ago! A great love story and thriller at the same time.
