Pittsburgh Steelers’ Hines Ward on being Asian American

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was selected to serve on President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in 2010. In the video below, Ward talks about his tough childhood and why he got involved in the Advisory Commission.

Ward was born in Seoul, South Korea, to an African American father Hines Ward Sr. and Korean mother Kim Young He.

    Great article! Did you know that Samoa is called Football Island? The NFL gets alot of their Asian football players from the island of Samoa.
