Cocktails in the Name of Love
Perhaps I’m being presumptuous, but if you are a male and in a relationship, chances are you are responsible for coming up with a Valentine’s Day plan.
There’s the lame prix-fixe dinner for which you probably got the lousy 6 p.m. seating because she said you didn’t have to do anything. (V-Day Rule No. 1: She wants to celebrate, even if she says she doesn’t.). Then there are the overpriced flowers, the overpriced chocolates, the overpriced pedi-cabs, the, well, you get the idea. (V-Day Rule No. 2: Everything is overpriced.) But, as they say, it’s all in the name of love.
There is one thing in your control that you can get right and feel good about, however: Champagne cocktails. The simplest is the Champagne Cocktail: just pour the champers over a brown sugar cube soaked with a few drops of Angostura bitters—this extra sweetness plays nicely off the wine’s acidity.
I suggest the nice Champagne like Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame or better with strawberrys to bring out the taste. Did you hear that??

Remember, the nicer the evening you have planned and the more generous you are, the more you can plan on having a night you’ll never forget! (WINK)
