Visitor arrivals to Singapore hit record

International visitor arrivals to Singapore grew 16.2 per cent to reach 1,055,000 in January. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said this is the highest ever recorded for the month of January.

The number was however lower than last December’s 1.13 million visitors. Visitors from Indonesia (208,000), China (132,000), Australia (98,000), Malaysia (78,000), and India (63,000), accounted for 55 per cent of foreign visitors.

With the increase in arrivals, hotel room revenue rose 25.8 per cent from a year ago to S$176 million.
