When surf meets gospel

They may be a bunch of fun-loving surfer dudes, but Switchfoot will not be anywhere near Singapore’s beaches during their world tour in April. “It is never a holiday, we are always working!” said Jerome Fontamillas, bassist of the Grammy-certified Best Rock or Rap Gospel group.

With a mainstream award proving that they are indeed a Christian band that plays rock, the group aren’t shy about their affiliations and seem to be taking it all in their stride. “Well, Elvis Presley won three Grammys and it’s all Gospel… so even Elvis Presley won the same award as we did!” said the 46-year-old Filipino.

The band, which will be in town for only a night , jamming it out in front of fans at the Rock Auditorium, will move on to play in Malaysia and Australia after Singapore.
