UCLA Girl goes off on Asians

A woman who claims to be a UCLA student rants about Asian students and their lack of “manners” while using the library. In one moment, she impersonates an Asian student talking on the phone (“ching chong ling long ting tong”); in another, she complains that “they’re going through their whole families, just checking on everybody from the tsunami thing.” HORRIBLE!

She pulled the video off Youtube but other accounts have reposted copies.

The university hasn’t determined whether the woman in the video is actually a student, the Daily Bruin reports. UCLA spokesperson Phil Hampton has issued a statement, revealing that the university does not tolerate that kind of attitude, and will be looking into the matter!

He said:

“We’ve seen the video and it includes comments that we find offensive. They are contrary to the values of UCLA.”

I really don’t believe that this girl is “going off on Asians”. I wouldn’t tolerate that behavior from anyone! Any University should have rules against that type of behavior. Dorms are only for students and cell phone use is never permitted in ANY library. It is ludicrous that this goes on at ANY University amongst ANY group of students!

FYI-UCLA is such a magnet for Asian and Asian/American Students for a host of reasons including the following:

    1) UCLA has a first-rate engineering program and celebrated their 40th Anniversary of the Internet on October 29, 2009 while most others were “sleeping” not even aware that such a monumental event even existed. The man responsible for this was Professor Leonard Kleinrock, an alumnus of Bronx Science who I learned about many years ago while on a tour of the Bronx High School of Science. He sent the first message on ARPANET, which later became the internet. It is no surprise to anyone that Asians excel at both math and science. Therefore, UCLA is top choice University for them.

    2) UCLA also is known for the most prominent and renowned Asian Studies Center. UCLA had an exhibit on display through Dec. 11 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of its Asian American Studies Center (AASC). The Powell College library exhibit, called “Forty Years of Breaking Ground,” featured artwork, photos and archival materials exploring the contributions of Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders who have taught and studied at UCLA. That also, is a major draw to this ethnic group, among others.

Part of finding the right University for you requires doing your due diligence in research, interviews and campus tours. Apparently, this University is not the right fit for you for several reasons. Do your homework going forward! In other words, dude, you’re at the wrong party!

A dormitory is a tiny room and there is no room for negotiation there. I went through six roommates in 4 years and I had same wonderful roommate for three years in a row. We are still great friends. What does that tell you?? You have to kiss many frogs before you find a prince so to speak. Too many girls are slobs and raised with bad habits period. Please have a heart and do not bring other unwanted family members into the picture too. It is simply rude and unfair to the other student(s). My first roommate had an older sister who was trying to run a social life for herself at my College out of “our” dorm room. I wouldn’t have any of it! She was a complete stranger to me and simply took up unneccessary needed space.

That attitude is terrible but it drives home some serious points. A dormitory is only for the paying students. In other words, it is not the Obama Community Housing plan where everyone and their mother-in-law can come and move in for free. I had a roommate my freshman year in College who invited the entire community to stay and she lasted one week with me before she got the boot. Better be safe than sorry. 🙂
