Hawaii-native and current Stanford student Michelle Wie, 22, is looking forward to

Hawaii-native and current Stanford student Michelle Wie, 22, is looking forward to graduate from the University she has called “home” for 5 years and is ready to focus on golf 100%.

The “Big Wiesy” is scheduled to graduate with a Major in Communications in March and walk in June. Many golf experts are expecting big things in 2012 from the golfer who has been hyped to do “great things” since she was 16. With the distraction of Stanford “out of the way,” the 6 foot Korean-American can finally focus on the sport full-time.

Wie didn’t win a tournament in 2011 but she finished 18th on the LPGA money list and in the Rolex rankings. For those who criticized Wie for being “on-and-off” the tour, she entered 20 out of the 23 tournaments she entered, all the while carrying 18-20 credits at Stanford.

Despite not winning last year, Wie is still a hot commodity in the endorsement world starring in ads for McDonalds, Kia, and Direct Buy Home Furnishings Club.

No other LPGA golfer has the same exposure she’s had commercially.

David Leadbetter, Wie’s longtime instructor told Golf Weekly, “her best golf is ahead of her. “ He also said that there are no questions of her being “burnt out” on the sport because she became a student-athlete at Stanford and she used golf as an “outlet.”

Golf experts predict that now Wie has finished at Stanford, she could either come out “refreshed and hungry” or bow down to the pressures of the sport that expected a lot out of her.
