Douglas Hannant’s Shanghai 30s

While Douglas Hannant had his loyal brigade of blonde socialites sitting front row, they have come to love him for his Palm Beach chic glam that exudes in his collections. Inspired by the Shanghai high society of the 30s, and the bubble of upper class escapism, the Plaza was transformed into a Shanghai speakeasy to create the mood. Structured separates in natural fibers like shantung, lace, and tweed were balanced on a soft neutral palette with punctuations of pastel printed silk blouses cinched at the waist. Though the inspiration was based on photos form 80 years ago, the mood is still the same for women living the high life.
